“COLOR TOP 5000UDI” in Full Production - First Installation for Indian Market –


Installation Site for Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd.

We, TKS, are expanding our business not only domestically, but also in our overseas market including the U.S., Europe, China, South Korea, Southeast Asia. We received this first order for a web offset press from a newspaper in India.

In June of 2010, we signed a contract for three sets of COLOR TOP 5000UDI for newspaper web offset presses with Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd. located in Kerala state, India.

The first set was installed at their new factory in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala. The installation period was three months from the beginning of this June to the end of this August and full production started early this September.

The second set will be installed in Cochin, which is the biggest harbor city in Kerala, and the third will be in Calicut, which is the site of the head office of Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing.

Delivery for the remaining sets will continue on to next year.

On September 19th, 2011, an opening ceremony was held at the Trivandrum plant starting in the morning at 5:00 AM with a solemn rite called “Pooja” to offer best wishes for the continued success and prosperity of the newspaper. After this, Mr. M. P. Veerendra Kumar, Chairman of Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd., pushed the operation button which started up the press for a first run of their press which went smoothly.

In the evening, a gala celebration was held with the many guests including the Governor and the Minister of Kerala. A special edition newspaper with an article and pictures taken during the ceremony was printed at the spot and passed out to everyone present. The ceremony successfully ended later that evening.

*	The blanket and plate cylinder circumferences are one around making the printing unit compact and lightweight compared to the 4 x 2 press and 4 x 1 press with a 2-around circumference blanket cylinder.
*	Reduction in costs of materials such as for plates and blankets. Normal, conventional blankets can be used.
*	Saves power consumption because of lightweight printing units.
*	Stable web tension due to short web paths in printing unit because of compact design. As a result, high printing quality can be achieved and waste copy reduced.
